Randolf the bully sauntered into the workers’ lunch room

his killer eyes would lock on yours ’til you cried out for doom

he made cutting jokes & caressed every buddy with fear

except for Elmer Gantry Jr., the fearless, our hero this year

Ran made out like Elm was crazy as a loon

couldn’t work or think, was dead as the moon

Elmer pulled from his pocket the makings for a cigarette

this time rolled a perfect one, lit it, and with a little regret

Said, “Randy boy, you obviously have no mind

there’s no intelligence in you that I can find

it’s too bad you have a mouth that doesn’t quit”

and smoke engulfed Ran’s face from Elm’s cigarette

Randy laughed it off, said he was only joking

Elmer laughed too & all the workers began croaking

like bull-frogs around a placid pond in a land of yore

& they all sauntered out the workers’ lunch room door…
